Grange Elementary student excels at Junior Olympics Sport Stacking Championships
Towson, MD – Last year, Emma Boone began Grade 3 at Grange Elementary School knowing nothing about sport stacking (also known as cup stacking). This year, she will begin Grade 4 at Grange having won four prizes at the AAU Junior Olympics Sport Stacking Championships.

In the category for girls ages 7 and 8, Boone placed second in the 3-3-3 and 3-6-3 competitions and first place for cycle and all-around. The championships were held in Des Moines, Iowa on July 27 -28.

Boone learned sport stacking by participating in Grange’s Stallion Sport Stackers, a club coordinated by teachers Christine Bell and Lisa McDaniel. Boone was invited to the AAU Championships after placing third in her category at the WSSA 2018 Mid-Atlantic Regional Sport Stacking Championships in March.

The story of Boone’s devotion to sport stacking was one of the first in a a series of Summer Stories BCPS is sharing about what its teachers, students, and staff are doing this summer.
