Forty-four BCPS School Resource Officers (SROs) are attending the 26th annual National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) conference, July 10 - 15 in Anaheim, California.

The group includes Officer Don Bridges, the SRO at Franklin High School, who serves as 1st vice president of NASRO; April Lewis, BCPS executive director of school safety; Captain John Trentzsch, Safe Schools facilitator; Sergeant Anissa Watkins, assistant Safe Schools facilitator; and Dr. Nardos King, executive director of school support secondary, Zone 4.

In BCPS, SROs are Baltimore County Police Department officers assigned to all BCPS middle and high schools to serve as educators, informal counselors, and to provide law enforcement services when necessary.

In addition to keynote sessions on Monday and Friday, the NASRO conference features two full days of breakout training sessions that are highly relevant and conducted by experts in the field. Attendees have the opportunity to receive 30 hours of training; view an exhibit hall with the latest in products, technology, and innovations; complete a NASRO Training Course onsite at no additional charge; and interact with SROs, school administrators, sheriffs and chiefs of police from throughout the country and internationally.
