Woodmoor Grade 2 students ask, "Why does it matter?"

Spotlight

Grade 2 students in teacher Rosa Scott’s class at Woodmoor Elementary School have been studying matter.

Students learned the importance of knowing the difference between a solid, liquid and gas. They also performed several experiments.

The experiment students enjoyed most was called, “What Weighs More?” Students used a ruler, tape, and two plastic cups to make a balance. They measured and cut two pieces of paper towel to make sure they were the same length and width. One piece was dipped into water, and the other piece into alcohol. Each piece of towel was placed on the ends of the ruler. This part was a little tricky, but they made it work.

The students enjoyed discovering new knowledge.
