  • Introduction

The Holabird STREAM (Science, Technology, Respect/Responsibility, Engineering, Art and Math) Program serves students in grade 4-8. The mission of the Holabird STREAM program is to inspire and empower students to excel academically and prepare them to become productive citizens who can think critically, work collaboratively, and solve problems in a 21st century world.

  • Academic achievements

Holabird met its 2015-16 school progress goals in math and reading.

“Last semester, 8% of our students earned straight A’s, and 44% were recognized for achieving honor roll status.”

“28% of our students are enrolled in at least one advanced academics class.”

“67% of our teachers hold Advanced Professional Certificates.”

Recent awards/grants

Holabird was recertified a Maryland Green School in 2015.

“We were recognized as a PBIS Gold school in 2015.”

Holabird’s Project Lead the Way/Gateway to Technology department was named Program of Excellence by the Technology and Engineering Educators Association of Maryland in February 2016.

Holabird’s Project Lead the Way/Gateway to Technology department was named Program of Excellence by the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association.

The school was a Green 15 grant award recipient two consecutive years.

The school was a 2015-2016 21ST Century Instructional Initiative grant recipient.

The boys’ basketball team was undefeated for the 2015-2016 season.

Special academic programs offered

Holabird offers Effective Learning Habits for College and Career.

Holabird students complete semester long STREAM investigations.

On-site and off-site field experiences enhance the STREAM Program.

Project Lead the Way/Gateway to Technology is a course in which all students in Grades 6-8 are enrolled.

Grades 4 and 5 students take an Engineering is Elementary course and participate in Aqua Partners.

All Grade students are enrolled in a high school environmental science course.

Students in Grades 6-8 may be enroll in French or Spanish.

Community/Business Partnerships

The school receives support from an active, strong PTSA, and from its partner schools: Norwood, Berkshire, and Colgate elementary schools and Dundalk High School.

The school is also a Towson University Professional Development School.

Holabird STREAM receives additional support from:

Popular/unique extracurricular activities

Holabird has many afterschool clubs/extra-curricular activities:

Athletics: badminton, cross country, soccer club, basketball, track and field, intramurals
