Church Lane Elementary explores ins, outs of broadcast television

Listen up – breaking news!

Sixteen Church Lane Elementary School students and their parents visited WBAL studios on Saturday, May 3. Members of Church Lane's news crew, which delivers the school's weekday announcements and news, explored the ins and outs of broadcast television.

With host Deborah Weiner, news anchor for WBAL, the students toured the television studio and stopped by the news desk. Later on, meteorologist Tony Pann and sportscaster Pete Gilbert joined the students, offering them tips and tricks to perfect their performances on the air.

The students also met with WBAL directors and producers for a behind-the-scenes look at broadcast news.
For Church Lane's student news crew, the visit to WBAL studios was the first step toward successful careers in broadcast television. Be on the lookout for these rising stars the next time that you turn on the news!
