The halls of Kingsville Elementary School were filled with holiday spirit as 50 students participated in a two-hour "Evening of Fun" sponsored by the school to raise funds for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. Kingsville faculty members supervised students, and in exchange for two free hours to shop, relax, or run errands, parents gave a cash donation that will be donated to the Red Cross. Students ate popcorn, sang karaoke, danced, made crafts, and socialized with one another throughout the evening. More than $800 was collected from Kingsville parents and teachers at this event. Students were encouraged to perform chores or acts of kindness in order to contribute to their parents' donation.
