Spotlights

As the executive committee for the Eastern Technical High School chapter of the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life Event, three seniors - Erin Skoda, Ashley Spear and Brittany Youngbar have been planning, organizing as well as managing a group of more than 60 students since before the school year began. They hold weekly meetings, leadership/teamwork challenges and group bonding adventures, all while taking a full load of classes. All of the students involved have been affected by cancer in one way or another, and this is a great way to come together, celebrate, remember and fight back. The chapter’s motto is “Be a part of Something Bigger than Yourself,” as it hopes to promote school and community awareness.

This year the Eastern Technical High School chapter of the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life Event has set its sights on a $30,000 goal. The group recently hosted a Halloween-themed kick-off rally in which chapter members provided information about Relay For Life, cancer education, games, food and lots of laughs.
