Jacksonville Elementary students explore the Healthy Habits Tour Bus

Jacksonville Elementary School’s Kindergarten and Grade 1 students enjoyed a visit from the Healthy Habits Tour Bus on Friday, September 27.

Lysol (the cleaning products company) partnered with the National Education Association and National PTA to launch the Healthy Habits Program – an effort to reinforce the important practice of healthy habits – such as regular hand washing – in school and at home.

A cornerstone of the Healthy Habits Program is the Healthy Habits Tour, featuring a one-of-a-kind school bus turned into a science museum on wheels. It began visiting schools nationwide in September and will continue visiting schools throughout October. Through a series of interactive stations on the bus, students learn proper cough and sneeze etiquette, common places where germs might be lurking, and how to stay well through hand washing and other healthy habits.

Jacksonville Elementary’s PTA leaders had a great time exploring the bus at the 2013 National PTA Convention in Cincinnati, and Jacksonville’s students found it to be fun—and informative—as well.
