Perry Hall Middle School students enjoy a "Musical Vacation" year

Students in the Functional Academic Learning Support (FALS) program at Perry Hall Middle School are participating in "A Year on Vacation" in teacher Courtney Croxton's music class.

"Camp Croxton" is the first of many vacation destinations the students will experience. In this activity, the students used different-sized marshmallows, which represented quarter, half, and whole notes, to "write" two 4/4 measure rhythm patterns that they heard on body percussion.

The students also made Native American headdresses, using feathers they had earned by correctly echoing one measure rhythms on the drums.

Next stop on their musical "vacation" for this school year? The Grand Canyon!
