School system and county leaders visit schools on first day of 2013-2014 school year

Superintendent S. Dallas Dance and members of the Board of Education of Baltimore County are spending much of the first day visiting 10 elementary, middle, and high schools across the county. They have been joined by Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz and other special guests during the visits.

Several stops this morning were to schools that have undergone great change since last school year. Dundalk High School and Sollers Point Technical High School now share a new showplace building, complete with lobby exhibits and state-of-the-art learning spaces for each school. Stoneleigh Elementary children have returned to their renovated school building, and students at Norwood Elementary and Holabird Middle are now participating in a new STEM academy located in both schools.

Schools on this year's first day tour are:

  • Dundalk High School
  • Sollers Point Technical High School
  • Holabird Middle School
  • Norwood Elementary School
  • Overlea High School
  • Halstead Academy
  • Stoneleigh Elementary School
