Spotlights

Spring has sprung, and the best way to enjoy the beautiful weather was to bring art class outside!

Grade 4 and 5 students at Sparks Elementary School were able to have their art classes outdoors for one week. Under the guidance of art teachers Stephanie Chaney and Marissa Chang, students looked at the installation artist Andy Goldsworthy. This artist, known for his work in using nature as his inspiration and palette, has been able to create beautiful outdoor sculptures.

Inspired by the work of Andy Goldsworthy, students were sent outside to collect materials in teams and create their own installation art in nature.

It was incredible to see the team building between the students and how creative they got with the natural materials they collected. Students had a lot of fun using non-traditional materials to create art and will surely remember this artistic experience!
