Team BCPS says "Go, Team Ravens!"
01/24/13

The Baltimore Ravens players have a frequent presence in Baltimore County public schools – cheering on student and teacher accomplishments and encouraging students to read and learn all they can as a path to future success.

In November 2012, Baltimore Ravens players and representatives of the National Football League visited Stoneleigh Elementary School to celebrate the school's recognition as one of 34 NFL "PLAY 60" Super Schools from across the nation and to participate in school-wide activities to promote good health and wellness. The Ravens and the NFL presented a $10,000 check to Debbie Phelps, director of The Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools, for use in supporting health and wellness at Stoneleigh Elementary.  Also as part of the visit, one of the school's physical education classes will work through an obstacle course with the Ravens players.  (Photo courtesy of Ravens photographer Shawn Hubbard)

As part of a school project to support the Ravens, Ms. Baker's second grade class at Arbutus Elementary School was awarded the "Ravens Cup" for using the Ravens roster to make jerseys for each player with their names, jersey number, height & weight. Did you know that the Ravens team collectively weighs 13,311 pounds and is 380' 7" tall? Students researched the colleges of the players, and then made college pennants to go with each team jersey. (Submitted by Paula Canaan-Reisz, RN, School Nurse, Arbutus Elementary School)

In December, Baltimore Ravens Center Matt Birk talked to Battle Grove Elementary School students about the importance of reading and then donated 350 Scholastic Book Fair vouchers from his own HIKE Foundation so that every student could purchase a book.

Team BCPS returns the favor by wishing the Ravens well as they pursue a Super Bowl victory.

Go, Team!!!
