The Grade 2 Team at Fort Garrison Elementary School has implemented "Power Mondays," a program to help teach life skills that will be used in many of the careers students will choose. One Monday a month, all Grade 2 students and teachers will dress in business attire. A guest speaker will discuss his/her career and the importance of using the life skills that the students are currently being taught. The first lesson taught the proper way to shake hands and make eye contact.

How fortunate were the Fort Garrison students to have Dr. S. Dallas Dance as their initial guest speaker! Dr. Dance answered many questions about his new position as the superintendent of Baltimore County Public Schools. He didn't even dodge a question about how much money he makes!

The powerful message that Dr. Dance left with the students was the need to work hard, be nice to everyone, and follow your passions to find a successful career choice.

Power Mondays is off to a great start, thanks to Dr. Dance!
