Carney Elementary School has established a Reading First partnership with Wells Fargo Bank this year. Wells Fargo volunteers come to the school to read pre-selected high-quality books and engage students with questions and discussions in pre-kindergarten through Grade 2 classes. When time allows, follow-up activities take place. All books are then donated to Carney Elementary School.
This program began on January 9, 2013, and will conclude on February 20 or February 27. The first few classes to hear stories have been well-behaved and have enjoyed hearing the stories and completing the activities.
The book list for Reading First includes:
“Brave as a Mountain Lion” by Ann Herbert Scott Hewitt
“Anderson’s Great Big Life” by Jerdine Nolen
