Students enrolled in nutrition and food classes at Parkville High School prepared and enjoyed an authentic Thai dish under the direction of York Technical Institute Chef Amos Kinert, Jr.
Visiting three classes taught by Bonnie Gray, Parkville High nutrition and food teacher, Chef Kinert opened his Monday, December 10, 2012, presentations with a conversation about the programs offered at York Technical Institute. Following a question and answer period about the Institute, Chef Kinert invited the students to join him in cooking a dish by introducing them to exotic ingredients and teaching them some of his culinary techniques.

At the end of the class period, the students expanded their taste palettes by dining on the dish they created. Many students, having enjoyed the experience, left the class considering a future career as a chef.
Chef Kinert provided students with a fun peek at a unique post-secondary educational possibility. The day allowed students to offer feedback and gain knowledge about an educational opportunity that does not require a four-year college commitment.
