Students at Carney Elementary School know that reading is fundamental, but they also know that reading with a buddy is even more fun.

On the day before Thanksgiving, Carney Elementary students participated in “Buddy Reading Day,” a day in which primary grade students are paired with intermediate grade students to share their favorite books and stories.

Buddy Reading Day, which will occur again in the months of December, March, and April, is one of many school events and celebrations held throughout the year targeted at fostering student friendships and promoting widespread appreciation for reading.
