The Cougar Claws is a vocal music group led by vocal music teacher Sonja Floyd at Carney Elementary School. The 51 Grade 4 and Grade 5 students participating in the group meet before school once per week for the entire school year.

On October 8, the students performed at Barnes and Noble where Carney Elementary was holding a fundraiser.

On October 13, the students performed at the inaugural Celebrate Schools event at White Marsh Mall.
