Many Baltimore County schools celebrated the International Day of Peace, Friday, September 21, 2012, by participating in Pinwheels for Peace. In this activity, students use words and images about peace to decorate pinwheels and then they display the pinwheels on their school campus.
The annual Pinwheels for Peace art installation project began in 2005 in Florida as a nonpolitical way for students to express their feelings. Last year, more than 4 million pinwheels were created and displayed in more than 3,500 locations around the world.
