On the first Purple Friday of the season, September 7, 2012, the Baltimore Ravens' Purple Caravan toured the Baltimore area in preparation for the team's first game. Two of its stops were at Carney and Pleasant Plains elementary schools.
At Carney Elementary, students had been asked to wear purple clothing to school but had no idea that the Caravan – which includes the Ravens' cheerleaders, marching band, and Poe, the team mascot – would be making a special appearance at the school.

Students at Pleasant Plains Elementary enjoyed the sounds of the Raven's Band as the cheerleaders and Poe performed for them in the school's gymnasium. "The students welcomed them with great applause and enthusiasm," said Pleasant Plains Principal Maureen Partilla. "It was a memorable event for all. We appreciated the support of the Ravens team for our school, and they appreciated the spirit of our staff and students."
