Superintendent accepts donations for homeless students from Chesapeake Gateway Chamber

Dr. S. Dallas Dance, Superintendent of Baltimore County Public Schools, accepted approximately $3,000 in donations on behalf of homeless students from the Chesapeake Gateway Chamber of Commerce.

The donations were presented at school system headquarters on August 30, 2012, by two of the Chamber's Board members – Also in attendance representing BCPS were Dale Rauenzahn, Executive Director of the Department of Student Support Services; Sharon Ochs, Coordinator, Pupil Personnel Services; and Mary Jo Slowey, Homeless Education Liaison.

The Chamber donated a $1,500 check, representing funds raised at a shrimp feast and bull roast, and bookbags and school supplies valued at approximately $1,500, contributed by the Community College of Baltimore County and other Chamber members.

The Chesapeake Gateway Chamber of Commerce was formerly known as the Essex-Middle River-White Marsh Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber supports Baltimore County Public Schools in a number of ways, including an annual awards dinner for outstanding teachers and an annual principals' breakfast including a panel discussion on education issues.
