Nearly 107,000 Baltimore County children awoke to a new school year on Monday, August 27, and many were ready to begin a year of learning and growing. Along with them, Baltimore County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. S. Dallas Dance started his school year in the classroom as well as he visited several schools Monday morning.
During his school visits, Dr. Dance was joined by members of the Board of Education of Baltimore County, including President Lawrence Schmidt, Vice President Valerie Roddy, and members George Moniodis, James Coleman, and Mike Bowler. He also was joined by County Executive Kevin Kamenetz and Abby Beytin, president of the Teachers Association of Baltimore County. Baltimore County Council members David Marks and State Sen. Delores Kelley also met the group at several schools.
During their visits, the dignitaries saw children eager to learn and happy to be back in school. They met with parents and teachers, and heard from PTA representatives and school support staff as they celebrated a fresh new school year now underway in Baltimore County Public Schools.
