A team of students from Catonsville High School bested 81 teams throughout last school year to be named Baltimore area champions of It's Academic.

The team consisted of Adam Antoszewski and Abel Deneke, both now seniors at Catonsville High and team captain Chris Blair, a 2012 Catonsville graduate, now attending the University of Virginia. The team was coached by special education teacher Joel Miller and English teacher Jo-Ellen O'Dell, supported by Principal Deb Bittner.

For their Baltimore area win, the team won $5,750 in scholarships.

Later, at the It's Academic regional Super Bowl, the Catonsville team came in second place, competing against 200 teams from the Washington, D.C. area and Virginia.
