Dundalk High School’s Owl Leadership Academy, along with members of the National Honor Society participated in a field trip sponsored by the principal, Mr. Shouldice, aboard the Lady Maryland in cooperation with the Living Classrooms Foundation, Inc. The Lady Maryland is a replica of a ship common to the harbors of Baltimore during the 1800’s. The ships were responsible for getting oysters and other perishable items up and down the port cities.
The students learned how to hoist and flake sales, conduct water tests, studied live plankton and examined sea life of the Baltimore Harbor. All of the students had a turn at the helm of the ship during the three hour tour on the beautiful waters of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.
