On May 1st students at Deep Creek Middle School participated in a live Webinar from the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum and Planetarium hosted by author Rick Riordan.  The students were able to tour Egyptian artifacts with Rick, hear him read from The Serpent’s Shadow, and ask him questions in real time.  The Serpent’s Shadow is the final book in The Kane Chronicles series about siblings Carter and Sadie Kane, who are descendents of two pharaohs. 

The students love The Kane Chronicles as well as Riordan’s previous series, Percy Jackson.  Mythological storytelling and action-packed books seem to be a huge draw for students. The librarian, Alexis Mazur held a raffle for students to check out the final installment of the series.  All students received a copy of the first chapter as an advanced treat for reading the books and attending the Webinar.
