On March 28 parents, students, and teachers attended, Deer Park Elementary School’s Mi Casa, Su Casa, a multicultural evening, with highlights from countries around the globe. The evening’s event included a performance by Lesole’s Dance Project, a dance company that showcased three South African dance styles. Audience participation was a highlight of the show; afterwards, each family received a passport to tour the world. Families stopped in France to paint the Eiffel Tower, then to Spain to create a Spanish yarn project, then onto Africa to string beads and finally to a computer area to learn how to access the BCPS digital databases. At each stop, guests received a stamp in their passport that entitled them to a snack representing each culture.

Students learn to count, greet one another and even say thank you in each language represented.
