Students at Woodlawn Middle School Create Baskets of Hope
04/12/12

Woodlawn Middle School students apply their knowledge of poetry by writing inspirational poems to be included in self-created baskets of hope.  These baskets are for children who benefit from donations to the Bea Gaddy Center for Women and Children.  The Center provides housing for homeless women and children, distributes food and blankets, and provides annual holiday dinners for the needy.

Woodlawn Middle School students take great pride in being able to reach out to those who are less fortunate.  Students know that their messages of hope, along with gift baskets, will put a big smile on the faces of the children.

Students also wrote poems to send to hospitalized members of the military.  They wanted to
thank the troops for putting their lives on the line so that we can continue to enjoy the
freedom that is sometimes taken for granted.  The students call this part of the project Operation Appreciation.
