“Night of a Thousand Stars” at Pinewood Elementary
03/15/12
Last month, Pinewood Elementary School hosted its second annual “Night of a Thousand Stars” enrichment night. This event is Pinewood’s opportunity to feature and showcase all students. Every student had something on display that exemplified their gifts and talents from across many disciplines.
The evening was a fun-filled event as adults and children had the opportunity to explore ways to enrich and extend the many “mathematical” concepts taught at Pinewood.
Learning and game stations were set up around the school for families to play and explore. Each station emphasized math from determining the necessary ratio of color intensities in Art to exploring symmetry with Origami. Each station was inquisitive for parents and students as they experienced authentic problem-solving activities. Parents and students practiced and developed critical thinking skills and demonstrated their creativity and persistence.
