Each grade level at Featherbed Lane Elementary read a narrative from different parts of the world in order to develop their schema and build background knowledge. Each grade level researched their country and presented their newly learned information through a variety of multimedia projects during Reading Night. Students and their families were able to use their passports to travel around the world and learn new information about each country.
Grade 2 students read the story Chinatown which led to further research on China. They prepared for the Chinese New Year by making good luck banners and lanterns. They enjoyed traditional Chinese food. Students became experts on Chinese holidays, food, life, history and customs and were proud to display and present to their families, friends and the school.
