Grade 1 students from Villa Cresta Elementary were recently invited by students from the Visual & Graphic Arts class at Parkville Middle School to participate in “A Celebration of Books”.  This event was the culmination of the Grade 7 magnet art unit on bookmaking and illustration. 

Each student led several first graders through a series of activities, such as storytelling, book illustration, and a gallery walk/ “scavenger hunt” for artwork.  The older students also shared the digital PowerPoint “book” they created which viewed their watercolor paintings illustrating each letter of the alphabet. 

Each first grade student was given a handmade book, especially done for them, by the students from Parkville Middle School.
