On Thursday, November 3, 2011, the Grade 4 students of Middlesex Elementary School presented a Veterans Day concert, under the direction of vocal music teacher Terri Collins.  Comprised of 68 performers, the chorus performed patriotic songs that honored soldiers and promoted civic pride within the school community.  The students accompanied the songs and poems with rhythm sticks, tennis balls, scarves, and recorders.  It was a truly exceptional display of patriotism amongst the students at Middlesex Elementary.

As the music program continues to grow at Middlesex Elementary, the students are fundraising to purchase a Yamaha Clavinova electronic piano to use for both concerts and classroom instruction.

“For students who struggle academically,” said Janet Mahoney, assistant principal, “music gives them a place to shine.”
