310 students participate in BCPS Summer Instrumental Music Camp

The halls of Cockeysville Middle School are alive with music – thanks to the Baltimore County Public Schools Summer Instrumental Music Camp, now in its 26th year.

This year, held from June 21-29, the camp serves 310 students from 54 schools. Students are involved in large ensemble and small group instruction led by the camp instructional staff, which includes 21 instrumental music teachers from BCPS and 6 student interns from area universities. The camp is open to BCPS students who will be entering grades 6-12 in the 2011-2012 school year and who are enrolled in their school’s band or orchestra. No audition is required.

The high school band from the camp performed a lunchtime concert at the Avenue at White Marsh on Monday, June 27.

The all-camp concert featuring all 310 student musicians will be held, weather permitting, at Oregon Ridge Park beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29. Admission is free, and the public is invited. If rain moves the concert inside, the concert will be held at Cockeysville Middle School beginning at 6:30 p.m.
