When Joe Kaminski first reported to work at Baltimore County Public Schools, he was, at age 71, older than most individuals are on their last day of work. Now as he celebrates his 25th anniversary with BCPS, Mr. Kaminski, at age 96, is undoubtedly the school system’s oldest employee.

Even more impressive than his age, says his supervisor, Don J. Dent, is Joe's work ethic. Working in the Office of Copy and Print Services, Joe “finishes” many different types of copy and print jobs by folding, cutting, bonding, stitching, drilling, collating, padding, and packing. In addition, he cleans and maintains the finishing equipment.

“His performance and attendance are well recognized,” says Mr. Dent. “Joe rarely misses time from work, and he routinely receives yearly attendance awards for perfect or outstanding attendance. He is a positive example for all of us.”

At their meeting on January 25, 2005, the Baltimore County School Board honored Mr. Kaminski for his outstanding service. Surrounded by his family and colleagues, Mr. Kaminiski celebrated what has been – so far – a full second career with Baltimore County Public Schools.

Before joining BCPS in January 1980, Mr. Kaminski worked for more than 50 years as an independent service station owner in the Baltimore area. He was also a part time professional musician, playing saxophone with many different bands.
