This spring, 18 students from General John Stricker Middle School journeyed from Dundalk to Annapolis, fortified with their mastery of the English language, and they returned home triumphantly – the same day – weighed down with silver and gold.
The students traveled to Annapolis High School to compete in the March 19, 2005, Maryland Council of Teachers of English Language Arts annual English EXPO.
The Stricker students competed against other middle school students from across the state of Maryland in 12 English language arts categories. Some of these categories included interpretation of original poetry, persuasive speaking, and readers’ theatre.
Twelve of General John Stricker’s students achieved gold rating in their events, and six received silver ratings.
Congratulations to these competitors for a job well done!
