Michele Prumo became Chief of Staff for Baltimore County Public Schools in July 2010. Previously, she served BCPS as executive director of planning and support operations, manager of risk management, and coordinator of health services. Ms. Prumo obtained a master’s degree in health science administration from Towson University and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Maryland.
Verletta White became Chief Academic Officer for Baltimore County Public Schools in September 2013. Previously, she served as BCPS assistant superintendent, executive director of professional development, coordinator of leadership development, and principal. Ms. White is a doctoral candidate in urban educational leadership from Morgan State University. She earned a master’s degree in leadership in teaching from College of Notre Dame of Maryland and a bachelor’s degree in education from Towson University. Ms. White is a Baltimore native.
Mychael Dickerson became Chief Communications Officer for Baltimore County Public Schools in September 2012. Previously, he served in Richmond, Virginia as executive director of communications, community outreach, and public policy for Henrico County Public Schools and news anchor and reporter for WWBT NBC-12. Mr. Dickerson obtained a bachelor’s degree in communications and a master’s degree in public administration from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. He was born and raised in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Kevin D. Smith became Chief Administrative and Operations Officer for Baltimore County Public Schools in July 2014. Previously, he served Henrico County Public Schools (Virginia) as Assistant Superintendent for Finance for the past 16 years. Mr. Smith obtained a bachelor's degree in Accounting and master's degree in Economics and Finance from Virginia State University. He was born and raised in Franklin, Virginia.
John Mayo became Chief Human Resources Officer at Baltimore County Public Schools in May 2014. Previously, he served as Assistant Superintendent for Middle Schools at Baltimore County Public Schools in July 2012, and before that he served as assistant superintendent in Petersburg City Public Schools and principal in both Henrico County Public Schools and Goochland County Public Schools. Dr. Mayo earned a doctoral degree in educational leadership and policy studies from Virginia Tech, a master’s in education from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a bachelor’s in biology from Virginia Union University. He is originally from Richmond, Virginia.
Russell Brown became Chief Accountability and Performance Management Officer for Baltimore County Public Schools in January 2014. Previously, he served as deputy chief of organizational accountability for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, researcher for the Reading First Program at the University of Akron, and was a published author and children’s mental health professional. From the University of Akron, Dr. Brown earned a Ph.D. in counseling psychology, an M.S.Ed. in community counseling, and bachelor’s degrees in biology and philosophy.
William Burke became Chief of Organizational Effectiveness for Baltimore County Public Schools in July 2014. Previously, he served BCPS as assistant superintendent of organizational development, executive director of professional development, principal and teacher. Mr. Burke obtained a master’s degree from The Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor’s from the Towson University.
