Students and their teacher at Logan Elementary School sent a hardy ‘thank you” for the recent Adopt-A-Classroom donation provided by First Financial of Maryland Federal Credit Union.

In an e-mail sent to First Financial FCU President Rob Windsor, pre-kindergarten teacher Denise Kropkowski writes, “Please accept my sincere gratitude for adopting my classroom. The materials I was able to purchase have been so beneficial in implementing our Open Court curriculum.  As you can see from the smiling faces of my students, they are very appreciative of the new learning toys and books. I truly can’t thank you enough for your generosity and kindness. Please know that you have made a difference in the lives of children for which I am very grateful.”

As part of their ongoing effort to support quality education for students, First Financial of Maryland Federal Credit Union participated in the Adopt-A-Classroom program in Baltimore County and Baltimore City. A total of ten elementary schools in these two districts were chosen to receive $500 Adopt-A-Classroom donations courtesy of the Credit Union. Through the Program, 100 percent of the donation is given to the teacher to purchase critical resources and materials to enhance the student learning experience within the classroom.

Funding for this grant was made possible through First Financial’s Visa credit card program and the KidsFirst Fund. Through the KidsFirst Fund, a portion of all member purchases made with a First Financial Visa credit card is directed to benefit children in the Credit Union community. Since the programs’ inception in 1989, First Financial FCU has donated over $1 million to benefit children.

First Financial of Maryland Federal Credit Union is the credit union for the Baltimore and Carroll County public school systems (employees, students, and their parents) as well as many private schools, colleges, and businesses in Baltimore and Carroll counties. Established in 1953, First Financial FCU currently serves more than 54,000 members with nine branch locations.
