Ms. Murphy was appointed to the Board in August
2005, nine years after she retired from a 30-year
career as a teacher and administrator with The
Baltimore County Public Schools. During her
school system career, she supervised programs
and activities associated with community relations,
public information, and human resources. From
1996-1999, she served as communications director
of the Open Door Child Care program. She has
also served on the Board of the Hannah More
School and is past president of the Maryland
Volunteer Network. She earned degrees from both
Fitchburg State College and the Johns Hopkins
University, and her interests include writing,
the Italian language, and water aerobics. She
lives in Parkton.
