Edward J. Gilliss, Esq. Edward J. Gilliss, Esq.,

Mr. Gilliss has practiced law for more than 35 years and is a partner in the Towson law firm Royston, Mueller, McLean & Reid, LLP. There, his broad civil practice includes litigation, estate planning, estate administration, and representation of restaurants throughout the State of Maryland. He was the county attorney for Baltimore County from 2001 through 2004, served on the Baltimore County Planning Board from 2007 through 2013, and presided as the chairman of the planning board from 2008 through 2013. He served for 12 years on the St. Joseph Medical Center (now the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center) Board as a chair, vice-chair, and member. Mr. Gilliss is a 1977 graduate of The College of Wooster and a 1980 graduate of The University of Maryland School of Law. His three children attended Baltimore County Public Schools, and he served in many capacities in the schools they attended including a term as president of the Dumbarton Middle School PTA. He is a past president of the Maryland State Bar Association and the Baltimore County Bar Association. He and his wife, Barbara, reside in the Towson area.

Nicholas C. Stewart was appointed to the Board in July 2015 to represent the First Council District. He also serves as chair of the Building and Contracts Committee and has served as chair of various ad hoc committees. He was raised in Baltimore County and is a graduate of BCPS. Mr. Stewart is an attorney with Saul Ewing Arnstein & Leer LLP who advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, financings and growth, and board governance matters. He is an active member of the Baltimore County Workforce Development Board, where he also serves on the executive committee, the Association for Corporate Growth, and the Lawyers’ Campaign Against Hunger. Mr. Stewart is a graduate of University of Maryland, College Park, and The George Washington University Law School. He and his wife have two children and live in Arbutus.

Verletta White Verletta White

A dynamic, innovative, and proven leader, Baltimore County Public Schools Interim Superintendent Ms. Verletta White leads the 25th largest school system in the nation, with a growing student enrollment of more than 113,000 diverse students, and more than 18,500 employees including 9,000 teachers.

Ms. White’s authentic collaboration and communication skills have been pivotal in the transformation of teaching and learning in Baltimore County toward 21st century, learner-centered environments that leverage technology to personalize learning, increase achievement, and close gaps.

Homegrown and deeply trusted, Ms. White has risen through the ranks in BCPS, serving as chief academic officer; executive director of professional development; area assistant superintendent for the Northeast Area; and assistant superintendent for elementary schools. Ms. White began her teaching career in 1992, as an elementary school teacher in Baltimore City and transitioned to a teaching position in Baltimore County in 1995.

Ms. White holds a bachelor of science degree in education from Towson University, a master of arts degree in leadership in teaching from the College of Notre Dame in Maryland, and is currently a doctoral candidate in urban educational leadership at Morgan State University.

Haleemat Adekoya

Haleemat Adekoya, a senior at Milford Mill Academy, is the president for the school’s Class of 2019 and a member of the National Honor Society, National Technical Society, Principal's Advisory Board, and African Student Association. She also is an ambassador to the National Honor Society of High School Scholars. Outside of school, Haleemat co-founded and co-owns Dare2Bee, a female empowerment organization for young girls in the Baltimore area. In addition, she works with youth at her church, sings in the youth choir, and volunteers with organizations such as Higher Achievement Baltimore, an academic enrichment and mentoring program for middle school students in Baltimore.

Kathleen S. Causey Kathleen S. Causey

Kathleen S. Causey of Monkton is the general manager of Corbett Overlook 2 LLC and has had a 25-year career in real estate and information technology. Active in her community, she is a longtime member of Our Lady of Grace Parish and Hereford High School’s Sports Boosters and Parent Teacher Student Association. Ms. Causey is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

June P. Eaton June P. Eaton

Seventh Council District
Appointed July 2015

June P. Eaton retired from teaching after 22 years with the last three years spent teaching at Cardinal Sheehan School. She also has taught reading and physical geography at the Community College of Baltimore County. In addition to degrees from CCBC and Towson University, Ms. Eaton has earned a master’s degree in education leadership from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland (now Notre Dame of Maryland University). She resides in Dundalk.

Roger B. Hayden Roger B. Hayden

Former Baltimore County executive and former president and member of the Board of Education of Baltimore County, Roger B. Hayden’s career has spanned management in finance, operations, facilities management, and transportation. His past positions include serving as vice president of finance and then vice president of operations at Eastern Stainless Steel, vice president of administration at George Transfer, director of facility operations for the Baltimore Orioles, associate vice president for facilities management at Towson University. Currently he is president of The Hayden Consulting Group, which specializes in business and organizational issues.

Julie C. Henn Julie C. Henn

Julie Henn has worked in education technology for more than 20 years and is currently chief information officer and director of technology for Quality Matters, a global leader in quality assurance for online learning. She holds an MBA from Loyola University in Maryland and a bachelor’s degree in communications from Marquette University. Ms. Henn is a lifelong resident of Baltimore County and has long been active in public education, serving in multiple PTA leadership roles. Most recently, she served as chair of the Northeast Area Education Advisory Council for Baltimore County. She and her husband have two children, a son and daughter, and live in Perry Hall.

Charles McDaniles, Jr. Charles McDaniles, Jr.

A lifelong Marylander, Charles McDaniels currently works as a steel sales and technical consultant. He recently completed a 33-year career as a metallurgical engineer and sales/marketing manager at a Sparrows Point, MD, steel facility. His educational background includes a bachelor of sciences degree from Carnegie Mellon University and a master’s degree in business administration from Loyola University Maryland. He is the married father of a son and daughter.

Ann Miller Ann Miller

Ann Miller is a lifelong Baltimore area resident, wife, and mother of four children, two of whom will be full graduates of Baltimore County Public Schools, one in private, and one homeschooled. She was a graduate of Baltimore County Public Schools before attending Towson University. Ann is a private math tutor, a homeschool educator, and the founding president of a petition rights organization. She is a former public policy writer on Examiner.com for the better part of a decade. Ann has been very active in her community, her homeschool group, and in the Baltimore County Public School system as a volunteer, including being an interviewer for the Senior Mock Interviews for a number of years.

David Uhlfelder David Uhlfelder

Mr. Uhlfelder is a certified public accountant who attended the University of Maryland College Park and earned his degree in business and public administration. He is married and is a member of the board of directors for the Pikesville Chamber of Commerce and a life member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Uhlfelder is also a Board member and treasurer of the Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital.

Stephen L. Verch, Esq. Stephen L. Verch, Esq.

Sixth Council District

A graduate of Kenwood High School, Stephen L. Verch maintains a law practice and is a management assistant for Baltimore County government. He serves as a board member for Marshy Point Nature Center and counsel to Back River Restoration Committee, Inc. Mr. Verch also is the former chair of the Baltimore County Recreation and Parks Board. He earned his law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law after graduating from Towson State University and studying at the University of Tennessee.

Emory L. Young Emory L. Young

Second Council District
Appointed July 2017

Emory Young is an engineer with Verizon and holds Bachelor of Science degrees in electrical and computer engineering from North Carolina State University and a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering from Johns Hopkins University. As a community volunteer, Mr. Young has been deeply involved with the Boy Scouts of America (Baltimore Area Council) and the PTA Council of Baltimore County. Until his appointment to the Board, he served as president of the PTA Council. He and his wife have two children and live in Reisterstown.
