Baltimore County Public School students and teachers will spend eight weeks beginning in mid - May to mid - July at First Railway Middle School in Xi’an, China. This two-month stay in Xi’an is part of the Baltimore County Public Schools-China Cultural Exchange Program. In February and March, students and teachers from First Railway, a top performing school in Xi’an, will stay with host families in Baltimore County and attend school in various high schools around the county.
Our students will live with host families located in Xi’an and with students attending First Railway School. They will attend classes, explore the city, and travel to various historical and cultural sites such as: The Great Wall, The Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, The Summer Palace, The Temple of Heaven, Terracotta Warriors, and The Muslim Market. The ancient capital city of Xi’an is 5000 years old. Xi’an’s cultural heritage is especially rich because it was the terminal of China’s ancient “Silk Road” which connected Europe and Asia for trade and cultural exchanges.
