The Office of Third Party Billing provides an Outreach Worker to help BCPS' families apply for medical assistance on behalf of their children. The Outreach Worker is available to meet families at their children's schools, public libraries, or at an office.
School personnel who identify uninsured students can refer students to the Outreach Worker by faxing a completed copy of the Referral Form listed below to the Office of Third Party Billing. A form letter, the Parent Notification of Referral, should be sent home to the parents of each child referred to the Outreach Worker. The Referral Procedures provide tips on identifying uninsured students and information on completing the Referral Form.
Copies of an informational brochure, Maryland's No-Cost/Low-Cost Health Insurance Programs, are available for distribution to students and families. The brochure outlines the citizenship and income requirements to qualify for medical assistance in Maryland. A supply of the Outreach Worker's business cards is also available upon request for distribution to uninsured families. To request brochures and/or business cards, please telephone the Office of Third Party Billing or send an e-mail to maoutreach@bcps.org.
