Therapeutic Services
The Therapeutic Services program provides school social work services, including counseling and referral services, to students in alternative education programs. Services are short-term and offered in the home or a public facility (e.g. library, hospital, or detention center). Additionally, the program offers support in the areas of staff consultations, training, program management, and research.
Students served by the Therapeutic Services program include pregnant students and teen moms placed on Home and Hospital; special education students (not attending a comprehensive day school) with school social work services dictated by their IEP; students suffering with emotional and behavioral health issues preventing them from attending a comprehensive day school; and students referred by alternative education staff due to a variety of issues such as homelessness, death of a loved one, and other traumatic events or issues affecting their daily lives.
